17 November 2008:
MIXING. Sorry folks, no gigs this August after all. So much the worse for our collective fingernails. The lethargic fellows collectively known as Flannelmouth indeed regret to inform the public that live performances are unlikely this side of autumn 2009! This is due to unexpected occurrences of extraorchestral activity, also known to some as "real life", involving diverse band members. Comfort in these difficult times may be found in the fact that recordings for the coming album have been completed and mixing is in progress.

We're taking our sweet time about it this time around, however. Expect to hear a track or two on the radio in spring/summer 2009 if everything goes well. Album release will take place after summer, insha'Allah. And (dare I say it?) the album release is to be accompanied by actual gigs. That's live music, good people. For you to hear and us to perform, and not a year from today. Yay!

17 June 2008:
CURRENTLY IN STUDIO. The leisurely gentlemen of Flannelmouth are pleased to inform the public that light is slowly beginning to glint at the end of the long dark tunnel that has been the process of putting together our 2nd album. Said light is beginning to look like a darker, more daring and versatile collection of tracks than the firstborn.

Springtime came and went in preproduction under the inspired guidance of Ville Särmä (of Kevin etc.) and recording is now underway. The album will consist of tracks from all of the four years since the first album, including such titles as I'm Watching (aka Make a Move) and The First Kiss Kills, but also a number of tracks yet to see their live debut, most prominently an as yet untitled track persistently known as "Åke Strömming" (that's "Andy The Baltic Herring", for non-Swedish-speakers).

The band is biting its collective fingernails in anticipation of live shows in August, to be announced as soon as any dates are fixed.

25 February 2008:
Your favourite lazy updaters Flannelmouth are still busy working on new material. Recording of as yet untitled 2nd album is projected for summer '08 and release for 2009. In the meantime, get our own Rain Inside and/or (What A) Comeback / Bravado vinyl single at our authorised Flannelmouth dealers in Helsinki: Fatty Sounds in Hakaniemi and Popparienkeli in Viiskulma. And now the info you're really looking for: we are planning this year's gigs for sometime around summer end / autumn start.

25 September 2007:
We have just spent a weekend in studio recording demos of new material (including the crowd favorite of recent gigs, working-titled "Make a Move"), some of which will be available for listening over the internet later this autumn. The total number of tracks written for next year's album is creeping ever closer to 10. This must mean we mean business. Stay tuned for news on gigs and album progress.

14 June 2007:
- News of the band's demise not only exaggerated but indeed utterly false. We live, we prosper and shall rock the socks off all those attending this Saturday's gig in Semifinal, Helsinki. New material will be heard. Also appearing, the dashing young men of Streetcar.

- Follow this page for news on the progress of the long-awaited follow-up to Rain Inside, projected for 2008.

7 July 2006:
- Flannelmouth has just finished demo recordings in Helsinki. The band recorded four new songs for the forthcoming album including such songs as The First Kiss Kills, I’m In Love and The Summer’s Still Busy plus one untitled live hit. The band will continue processing new material at the rehearsal space and more demo sessions will follow later in the fall.

- The new songs were recorded by band’s new guitarist Jens-Peter Cavonius who replaced Mikko Kapanen. Cavonius is also known from The Scaramangas. The band is really happy that the new guitarist was found quite easily after Kapanen left the band.

23 June 2006:
- Welcome to our recently opened My Space profile!

6th of June 2006
- Good stuff aka brilliant news! We are honoured to land a gig with The Ohers aka 22-Pistepirkko for 17th of June. Please check out the details from live dates.

- No one knows until soon. We have a well-kept secret who we are going to unveil at our next gig. If you are aware of the band’s history you will probably have a good guess concerning the secret.

19 April 2006:
A live date at Kuudes linja has been changed from April to May. Check out from live section.

2 February 2006:
- We finally re-opened the message forum, feel free to post any questions and comments, no registration necessary.

28 January 2006:
- A live date added for April, the first ever with our friends Kevin.

2 January 2006:
- Happy New Year! It's been a long while since we had any updates here but that has to do with the fact that we chose not to play any gigs during the fall of last year as we have been writing some new songs and keeping busy with outside interests as well (such as forming side project bands, releasing records with side project bands, finding a new practise space after losing the last one, and... becoming parents!). Anyway we will be performing - and debuting a few new songs - at good ol' Club Mojo in good ol' Semifinal on Saturday, February 18th with Montevideo.

21 July 2005:
- Another great gig at "our home away from home" (or practise space), Semifinal (Flannelmouth are among the "top few" artists to have played at Semifinal most times)... Thanks to Club FF, support group Tokyotapes and the fantastic audience. In addition to songs from the Rain Inside album the band played two new songs, golden oldie "Lost And Found" from the I've Seen Nothing Yet EP, another Jesus And Mary Chain cover (see news update from 27 November 2004), this time the sublime "Just Like Honey", and "Cut Your Hair" by Pavement for a second encore.

18 June 2005:
- Flannelmouth are taking a break from working on new material by playing what will probably be the only gig they'll play this summer to celebrate the band's 10th Anniversary at Semifinal, Helsinki, on July 16th.
- A new review from Germany at Nordische Musik... Klang!

10 May 2005:
- More great album reviews from We Love Musique, Left Off The Dial and Fufkin.

28 April 2005:
- And then there were six! Flannelmouth "touring" keyboardist/backing vocalist Marko Korhonen (also of Robot Riot), who has been playing live with the band starting from the period between the recording and the releasing of the Rain Inside album late last year, has been officially added to the ranks of the band. Marko will hopefully bring with him a new ingredient in preparing new material for the band's second album. The live shows have proven him to be a perfect fit for the band and also, as bass player Antti Lönnblad put it, the word "sextet" has considerable and obvious phonetic advantages over quintet.
- The Noise.fi interview and a very positive 4 out of 5 album review (both in Finnish, see previous update) have been posted. The review was indeed a relief considering the brutal bashing the pre album single "(What A) Comeback" received from the same site! ;-)

19 April 2005:
- The song writing team has been hard at work during the hiatus in gigging. The band are alive and well.
- The band (Antti & Mikko to be exact) have been interviewed for the Noise.fi music site, interview and album review published there soon.
- Updated the links page to include the excellent Poppikerho club's interview and photo gallery featuring Flannelmouth.

20 March 2005:
- We had a fantastic night at Semifinal, easily one of our best gigs ever. Thanks to all who came.

18 March 2005:
- More international reviews of Rain Inside; from Canada, Germany and The Netherlands.
- Don't miss the Flannelmouth (and related!) live action in Helsinki this weekend... Robot Riot, a band featuring the unofficial sixth member of Flannelmouth's live line-up, keyboardist Marko Korhonen, are playing an unplugged set at Black Door tonight featuring Flannelmouth guitarist Mikko Kapanen filling in on drums. Tomorrow night Flannelmouth themselves are playing at Club Mojo in Semifinal with Daisy.

18 February 2005:
- Another review has been posted...

The setlist itself constisted of the album from start to finish.

10 November 2004:

27 April 2004:
- Flannelmouth again connected with Manchester, UK. Some of the people perhaps remember that In The City music business convention invited Flannelmouth to play at the event in Manchester fall 2002 as one of 54 bands chosen from among the over 5000 that applied, making Flannelmouth the first Finnish act ever to participate in their unsigned band category.

In the spring 2004 Flannelmouth is once again connected to Manchester. This time the singer Tuomo Kuusi lend his vocal talents to Boys of Scandinavia track "Worse Than A Girl" which was part of the Music Is Better Volume One compilation presenting artists from Helsinki and Manchester. NME hailed "Worse Than A Girl" as a stand-out track from the album.

8 April 2004:
- The release of the single has been postponed and the new release date will be announced as soon as possible. This naturally also means that the gig at Kipsari on April 16 is not a record release party.

December 2003:
- Welcome to the new Flannelmouth website! There will be more content added to the site little by little as the re-activated band gears itself into motion for 2004 starting with Helsinki gigs and recording a 7" vinyl single to be released in the spring by Grid Records. The band's debut album will follow later on in the year. As you can see, this site is still missing some content but that's being worked on by guys in white coats day and night. Also new photos will also be added once the band have held a photo shoot. So stay tuned for more information and other additions to flannelmouth.com!
